A superb antique George II parcel-gilt mahogany mirror, having a wonderful leaf and rosette central cartouche above a swan's neck pediment with "S" scrolls and leaf carving and having an egg and dart border with pendant floral and leaf carving. The plate is framed by incised and gilt leaf carving. English or Irish, circa 1750.
A nearly identical mirror identified as Irish is illustrated in F. Lewis Hinckley's "A Directory of Antique Furniture", 1953 edition, page 265, illustration No. 836.
