Circular Mirror by Pierre Vandel France, 1970s

About the Item

Circular mirror from the 70's by the French designer Pierre Vandel. This mirror dates from the beginning of his career as a designer. A real enthusiast, he designed all sorts of products during his career, from side tables to lighting fixtures. In 1969, he had his collections produced by the company Marais International. A few years later he befriended Pierre Cardin who helped him set up his own workshop: Pierre Vandel-Paris. His creations met with worldwide success, notably his "vertebra" chair which seduced the public with its original design. Its structure is composed of three parts, the base is in two parts connected by screws and the mirror if fixed by a rotating axis allowing it to orient vertically. The position is maintained by a screw. The whole is in brushed aluminum. In very good condition, patina consistent with age and use.

Selected in 1979 for the Compasso d'Oro, it was later incorporated into the MoMa's permanent collection. Still in production today, it now comes in three models: Tizio, Tizio micro...
