Antique Mexican Mirror in Brass and Silvered Glass, Oaxaca, Mexico, circa 1950

Buyer Protection Guaranteed

Flowers, branches, scrolls and birds in their nest are the decorative elements that adorn this elegant mirror. Here craftsmen have fabricated and cut sheets of brass before folding, scoring and embossing them, a Mexican art form that has been passed down from its origins in sacred art when churches, monasteries, and convents were embellished with elaborate crosses, angels, and expansive biblical scenes. Brass motifs like those that adorn this mirror have been crafted for generations by Oaxacan artisans with not just great expertise but, ultimately, with an even greater beauty so much so that designers like William Spratling and, later, Hector Aguilar used variations to decorate many of their own lovely works in various metals.

The mirror is in perfect condition, complete with the beautiful patina given to it by time itself!
