About the Item

19th century French Louis XV walnut bedroom suite by Mercier Freres in Paris was crafted by one of the world-renowned Parisienne furniture crafters of the Belle Époque, a time which many experts believe produced the finest furniture in all of recorded history! The company was formed in 1828 and was still in operation until 1985! This suite, crafted from select French Walnut - no longer available - consists of an impressive triple armoire, with step-front centre section and exquisitely scrolled framework including an arched crown centred with a Rococo style cartouche, leading down to the raised shoulders of the stepped-back side cabinets. The side door mirrors are hinged so that one can get a tailor's mirror effect when they're open, while the centre door sports a huge original beveled mirror that provides a lovely reflection of your room. When opened, the doors reveal abundant storage space inside. The bed has been converted by our expert in-house staff to accommodate a Queen mattress set, extending the rails only and leaving the head and footboards intact, each carved to perfection like the armoire by master sculptors depicting floral and foliate motifs in glorious relief and featuring a double galbe panel. Even the nightstand is remarkable, with a two-door design into the marble-lined lower cabinet, a backsplash to keep things from falling down along the wall, and a sumptuous marble top. The drawer and four cabriole legs are icing on the cake! circa 1890s Armoire measures: 108 H x 94 W x 22 D Bed accepts Queen Mattress Set; headboard is 73 H x 66 W; footboard is 32.5 H; overall length is 86 L Nightstand measures 40 H x 18 W x 17.5 D.
