Lit De Marriage Bed, Made in the LXV Style, Finished in Rose and Silver

About the Item

The Lit De Marriage Bed, hand carved in the Louis XV style has been modelled after one of our original pieces from the 1800s which was made in the French tradition of having a piece made to offer as a wedding present. Symbolic references to the couple and their families would have been built into the design. The two birds, beak to beak, at the apex of this headboard are a symbol of true love and happiness. The headboard's design has the lightness and exuberance of the Rococo styling of this period which is extended to the beautifully carved fret work depicting stylized acanthus leaves all across the footboard and sidebars. This model comes with a caned or upholstered option for the headboard. The bed seen in the photo has been upholstered in a damask rose silk and finished in a pale rose patina with hand gilded silver highlights in a lightly antiqued patina. All our beds can be made to any mattress size and custom finished to order. Mattress size 180cm x 200cm (UK Super King) includes a shallow divan all you need is to add your mattress. We can make any bespoke size and finish (on request) other images added show different finishes.
