Mahogany Four Post Tester or Canopy Bed from British India

About
Mahogany four-poster tester bed from British India, circa 1920, with elaborate hand carvings of two winged goddesses, flowers, grapes and shells surrounding an oval mirror on the headboard. The bed's four posts have a beautiful tapered serpentine twist. Its canopy which was used to drape mosquito netting, still has some of the original hooks. The bed has support slats (not shown) and accommodates a 75.50" x 68" mattress. If desired, the carved crown portion of the headboard can be removed.
