19th Century French Marble Top Bedside Tables, 1890s, Set of 2

About the Item

Pair of late 19th century French nightstands with elegant proportions, ideal for that place where you need "something". This versatile antique piece is constructed of light oak and has a beautiful red marble top with white veins. The tables have a grand top resting on the marble and also a small shelf on it. The inset marble table top has a molded top edge over a small box containing a drawer and cabinet. Both have decorative carved moldings, bronze knobs, and are flanked by fluted mullions. The cabinet door features a carved floral ornament and opens to a storage cavity with a white porcelain shelf. The sides and back of the case are paneled. The box rests on four turned legs that have tapered columns joined by a platform shelf near the base. Use them as plant stands to hold those big summer ferns or as charming nightstands in a bedroom!
