Schottenstein Stores owns stakes in DSW and American Signature Furniture; American Eagle Outfitters, retail liquidator SB360 Capital Partners, over 50 shopping centers, and 5 factories producing its shoes and furniture. It also holds an ownership interest in American Eagle Outfitters, Wehmeyer in Germany, Cold Stone Creamery and The Mazel Company.
Since 1950, Saporiti Italia produces some of the most sophisticated and advanced pieces of furniture of the history of Italian design.
There is a leit motiv in all the company's creations: each new piece is history in itself. Catching time off balance and anticipating the future are both the Challenge and the vocation of Saporiti Italia. Each item created and constructed by the company is slightly ahead of its time and it is destined to last, both in form and function, until the next era.
The company, founded in 1950 by Mr. Sergio Saporiti and still under control of the Saporiti family, has contributed to the creation of milestones in the history of Italian design.
During these decades of fast growing economy and fast changing social environment, Saporiti Italia set its particular international and avant-garde style.
The first pieces of furniture of the Saporiti of the times were clearly influenced by emerging Scandinavian design, but with a special touch of Italian elegance in the use of finishing and materials. In 1965 Sergio Saporiti started a fruitful and “scientific” collaboration with one of the masters of Italian architecture and design of all times: Alberto Rosselli.
Together they created a series of pieces of furniture – the Jumbo chair, the Moby Dick chaise longue, the Confidential sofa – which are still in the history of modern design, for their originality, their innovation in the use of the plastic materials, their concept of modular Industrial Production.
In the 70s and 80s Saporiti Italia starts a fast process of internationalization of its markets. The commercial proposals made by the company are extremely innovative and original.
The creation of the 'Saporiti Italia showrooms' all over the world is the key to this success. Every showroom is a place where all the furniture elements are carefully coordinated and integrated. The dimensions of the Saporiti Italia products 'explode' as well as the number of colors and finishing proposed in both the wooden and the upholstered pieces. In this period the collaboration of Saporiti Italia with Missoni, the famous fashion designer firm, creates beautiful fabrics for the Saporiti collections.
The Wave sofa, designed by Mr. GiovanniOffedi, represents the peak of the Saporiti international success. Its purity of lines and its extra-large proportions, result in an incredible attraction for Saporiti's international markets.
In the 90s and 2000s In this period Saporiti Italia further develops its skills in customizing and personalizing shapes, colors, materials and functions of its collections.
The Avedon sofa by Mauro Lipparini and the Dry wall unit by G14 Design symbolize this trend. The company further reinforces its investments and developments in the furniture contracting business, already started in the early 80's. With a creation of a powerful and efficient internal design department, Saporiti Italia starts providing advanced design services to its clients.".

- Davis Cabinet Co Cerused Oak Chinoiserie Chest Dresser Nightstand Console StandBy Davis Cabinet CompanyLocated in Dayton, OH"Vintage Davis Cabinet Company low chest of drawers / dresser / nightstand / TV console. Made of ebonized cerused oak featuring rectangular form with asian styling and three drawers with brass hardware. These words of our venerable leader introduce this short history of our firm which began in 1929. There are certainly older furniture companies ---- and obviously younger ones, but quite likely, none with a more romantic history or a more Horatio Alger-like history than ours. Davis Cabinet Company began as the dream of one man, Lipscomb ""Lip"" Davis, and as is the case with most dreams, this one ---- the impractical idea of building fine furniture from solid wood ---- was thought to be an impossibility. Wood, like steel and iron and most other substances, expands and contracts with climate changes. Furniture built of solid wood must of necessity rack itself to pieces through the inexorable changes of expansion and contraction. Lipscomb Davis thought otherwise. His personal philosophy might be expressed as ""Anything can be accomplished if it is done correctly"", and to this end he had already conceived and engineered a startling new concept of free floating construction that would allow the solid wood case construction to move at will . . . . naturally . . . and thereby avoid the stresses of climatic change. The opportunity to test the idea came dramatically in 1929 ---- but we're getting a bit ahead of our story. While Davis Cabinet Company was formed in 1929, it really had its beginnings around the turn of the century as a sawmill located near Fifth Street on the banks of the Cumberland River. The mill produced lumber from logs rafted down the river from neighboring forests. A ready market existed for most of the high grade lumber turned out by the mill. But, in order to utilize their entire production, the enterprising mill owners formed a subsidiary business, Standard Furniture Company. Here, they manufactured primarily veneered bedroom suites and sewing machine cabinets...Category
