"Jardim" Bed in Walnut Hardwood with Natural Dyed Crochet by Brazilian Yankatu

About the Item

The Jardim King Size bed is made of solid Brazilian walnut wood (Freijó) and decorated with a handmade crochet flower using cotton threads dyed naturally. Each crochet flower is unique and couldn't be repeated. The threads are naturally colored using fruits of the artisan’s orchard in Minas Gerais' countryside, Brazil, as is the crochet work too. Attentive to all details the designer Maria Fernanda Paes de Barros decided to cover the hinges with wood, creating a visual unit. The bed is entirely made of solid wood, even the stage to hold the mattress. There is the option of ordering just the bed headboard (bed frame) to use with mattress box. As we use naturally dyed cotton and manual crochet the colors may vary, if this will be a concern please consult them at the time of purchase. As all the pieces produced by Yankatu, is accompanied by its soul, a “Certificate of Authenticity” in the form of a small book that tells about the inspiration that gave birth to it and leaves blank pages so that its story can continue to be told by those who acquire it, turning it into something more, which does not change with fashion, which does not go by with time. To the contrary, it will move on from a generation to another, from hand to hand, each time with more stories to tell, each time incorporating the lives shared by it. The wood comes from nature, each one is unique, with its veins, knots and tones. Because it is a natural material it suffers with the climate change, so cracks an shifts in color may emerge over time. The wood can also warp sometimes due to a large variation in relative humidity of the air. This aren’t defects on the contrary, all of this is considered normal. The King size bed must be shipped disassembled with an assembly instruction manual, and Yankatu does not provide or indicate labor for assembly. The nightstand and the screen shown in the pictures are part of the Jardim Collection and can be ordered separately. They can also be find at 1stdibs website.
