Handsome vintage MCM or Mid-Century Modern nightstand, small cabinet, side, or end table attributed to Johnson Carper Fashion Trend Collection. This piece has been attributed based upon archived research including online sources, vintage documentation and catalogs, designer literature, and other materials however, it is not signed or marked in any way. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. This is a FANTASTIC vintage mid-century modern walnut nightstand, small cabinet, side, or end table attributed to Johnson Carper Fashion Trend collection featuring two drawers with solid wood curved waterfall style pull handles and exquisite veneer fronts. Did you notice that the fabulous sides and legs are all one piece? It gives an illusion of a slight splay but it’s not. WOW! Sometimes little details make a BIG difference!! LOVE IT!! It also bears a beautiful faux wood laminate top which is wonderful and worry-free in case you need a glass of water in the middle of the night and have a sleepy spill! BUT… you don’t have to limit this beauty to the bedroom! Maybe use it as an end table in the living or family room or in a hall hosting linens, books, and anything in between. Or, use it in an office as a convenient side table or small cabinet… there is plenty of room for office supplies inside its nice size drawers. Possibilities are as endless as your imagination. High quality, versatility, and timeless style… this attractive piece has it all!! Johnson Carper Furniture Company was started around 1927 and was located in Roanoke, Virginia. There is not a lot of information about the company; however, we know that they created quality modern American furniture. A “claim to fame” for them was that two of their Fashion Trend bedroom sets were featured on the “I Love Lucy” series in 1953 in Ricky & Lucy Ricardo’s on set bedroom. Edmond Spence, a renowned mid-20th century Danish modern designer, designed the Delray collection for their Fashion Trend line. The Singer Co. originally bought Johnson-Carper Furniture Co. of Roanoke in 1969 and changed its name to Singer Furniture. The company had its headquarters in Roanoke until 1994.
