About the Item

We are delighted to this absolutely stunning pair of circa 1890 Victorian Burr walnut side tables with single drawer from the great company of Collinge’s Burnley This is part of a suite, the full set includes a stunning dressing table, pair of side table cupboards with single drawer and a double bank wardrobe, all other pieces are listed under my other items Collinge's store opened in circa 1875 at 110 St. James's Street, on the corner of Hammerton Street. The upper floors of the building were Collinge's showrooms, but the ground floor was divided between a number of other shops and trades people. Collinge and Company Limited, were a cabinet makers, upholsterers, house furnishers and decorators. The family also owned a store in St. Annes-on-Sea. The store closed in circa 1926 This pair are very utilitarian, they can of course be used in the bedroom as bedside tables however I think they are better suited in a living room as lamp, end, wine or side tables. The timber is all original and looks glorious in the right light, the drawer is stamped Collinge Maker Burnley In terms of condition they are totally solid and stabile, the timber has a wonderful period patina. We have cleaned waxed and polished them from top to bottom, they will have normal age related marks from honest use Dimensions: Height 73 cm Width 42 cm Depth 53 cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point. This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
