Rare pair of 'heavy metal' bedside cabinets. Because of the worldwide increased popularity of original, industrial furniture, it soon became virtually impossible to find original pieces. It did not take long before the market got flooded with copies from low wage countries. Unlike these two original, industrial cabinets those copies were made to look old and they are (often extremely) light in weight. This rare pair certainly looks well used, but that is because they have been, for many decades. Judging from the dents in the door of the cabinet on the left, that cabinet may have even been abused at some point in time. However, this totally original and rugged appearance is exactly what we look for in original, industrial pieces. With a weight of almost 40 pounds lbs each, these thick plated metal cabinets were built to last and last they will. They are still standing very strong and they will still be a hundred years from now. Both doors still open and close well and both cabinets come with good sliding drawers. This grey painted industrial pair from the 1940s also comes with air vents in the back and the inside is divided into two equally high tiers. They may originally have been used as doctor's cabinets or even for military purposes, but they could now make the coolest pair of bedside cabinets.
