This beautiful mahogany bed was crafted in the mid to late 18th century during the Queen Anne/Chippendale period. It was originally constructed as a full but then later converted to a king size bed. The rails are original as well as the headboard, however panels on the head board and extensions on the rails were added later to make this bed king sized. The hand-carved details on this piece include cleft feet with foliate, cartouche, and scroll motifs. The posts at the foot of the bed are fluted like columns, and the top and bottom frames of the bed have interesting fretwork carvings.
