Architecture of the Old South: Mississippi-Alabamba by Mills Lane. NY, Beehive Press, 1989. 1st Ed hardcover with dust jacket. Oversized book, 204 pp. beautifully illustrated with vintage black and white photographs as well as floor plans. Mississippi and Alabama, the two states carved from the historic Mississippi Territory, were settled by a third wave of immigration in the 1830's that produced a surprising variety and quality of buildings in the relatively brief period before the Civil War.
