The Architecture of Robert & James Adam (1758-1794); Two Volumes, by Arthur T. Bolton. Published by Country Life, London, 1922. 1st Ed hardcovers no dust jacket as published. Original green cloth with decorative raised gilt medallions on the front covers, gilt lettering on the spines, and all pages have gilt edges. Profusely illustrated with approximately 700 illustrations, with plans and drawings. Volume 1, 344pp. Volume 2, 361pp. plus 92pp. appendix. Numerous photographic illustrations and architectural plans. Considered the Bible on the Adams brothers. Bolton was an Architectural historian. He was the curator of Sir John Sloan's Museum and the co-founder of the Wren Society. This is a very large and heavy pair of books measuring 15.5" x 11" each.
