Dunbar for Modern Market Notes June 19 to June 30, 1950

About the Item

Small format brochure published in June 1950 showcasing 26 Edward Wormley designs for Dunbar Furniture, presented at the Chicago Merchandise Mart. Highlights include the No. 4841 sofa, the Straight Sectional Units, the Careless Curve Sectional Units, the No. 483 Easy Chair, the No. 4878 Chair, and the No. 5008 Love Seat from the Decorators Group. The Market Notes function as supplements to the more elaborate catalogs put out periodically during the 1950’s, such as the 1956 Dunbar Book of Contemporary Furniture. Frequently, they are the only reference for a work with a short production run that failed to land in one of the more comprehensive catalogs. Small 8vo (4” x 5.5”), stiff wrappers printed with the Dunbar for Modern logo. Plastic comb binding, 24 pages printed only on recto, illustrated with b/w photographs and renderings. Curatorial information includes model number, name (if any), materials, and measurements. Scarce piece of design ephemera.
