Mathieu Mategot by Jousse, Philippe & Caroline Mondineu (Book)

About the Item

This book which was produced in 2003 is an important and rare monograph on the furniture designer and maker Mathieu Mategot, written by expert Philippe Jousse and collector Caroline Mondineu with access to the family's archives. Following the Second World War Mategot opened a workshop where he made furniture in small editions which he distributed to decoration shops. His most famous designs were the three-legged "Nagasaki" Chair and the "Copacabana" armchair; both made of steel tube and perforated sheet metal - which was to become the material which he became known for using. 255 pages with text in English and French, illustrated throughout with colour and black and white photographs. The book is in soft covers with a dust jacket - which is slightly damaged. There is also a previous owners name inscribed, but it is not too intrusive.
