Early 19th Century Birmingham England Antique Sterling Silver Vinaigrette

About the Item

Early 19th century sterling silver vinaigrette made in Birmingham England circa 1813. Sterling silver vinaigrettes were used during the Victorian era by soaking a small sponge with perfume or aromatic vinegar to compensate many of the bad odors of the era. The sponge would be placed under a decorative engraved grill in the photos you can see beautiful flowers engraved on the grill. This is from a private collector who traveled the world buying beautiful pieces.
