An excellent, fine and impressive antique Georgian English sterling silver snuffer/pen tray made by William Bateman I; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection. This exceptional antique George III sterling silver snuffer tray has a plain rectangular form with rounded corners. The surface of this fine example of antique silverware is plain and unembellished. The raised rounded border is embellished with an impressive vertebrate band of stylized floral, bud and foliate ornamentation, all on a matte background. The rim of the tray is encompassed with an exceptional applied gadroon decorated border accented with a floral motif to either side and a scrolling leaf decorated design to each corner. The underside of this impressive Georgian snuffer tray bears the silversmith's centre punch mark in addition to the full hallmarks pertaining to the renowned London silversmith William Bateman I. This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver tobacco box has a plain circular rounded form. The underside of this box has a subtly concave form proffering a comfortable fit in the majority of pockets. The surface of this antique silver tobacco box is plain and unembellished. This silver tobacco tin or box retains the original sprung flush hinged hallmarked subtly convex cover, which opens by applying gentle pressure to each side. The interior of the box retains the original gilding. This antique Edwardian piece is an exceptional example for its type. Condition This antique tobacco box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The box has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.
