Gijs Bakker No. 9 "Earth Brooch" is made from titanium and stainless steel in 2013.
Today, photos of planet Earth are well-known. The "Earth Brooch" is a homage to our planet, our home, as it was photographed in 1968 for the first time from space. By using 0.5 mm-thick titanium, drilled by a laser to transform the image in 2799 dots, Bakker tried to recreate the Earth as a new icon, reminding us to look at our vulnerable, beautiful planet from a different perspective.
