George III Rare Bronze Cased Chronology of the Sovereigns of England
About the Item
A rare and very interesting antique Georgian bronze medallion cased set of printed discs titled CHRONOLOGY OF THE SOVEREIGNS OF ENGLAND and believed to have been produced around 1815. The set comprises of 16 circular discs, printed on both sides with portraits of the Kings and Queens from William the Conqueror to George III. Each disc documents the date of death, age at death and years of reign. The set is contained in a medallion shaped case embossed to the front with a profile portrait of the Prince Regent, George III with the title of the set embossed to the opposite side. Two printed loose end papers are inserted inside both sections of the medallion to protect the contents.
Offered in very good used condition for age with printed discs also in good condition.
Provenance: From a wonderful and choice collection of small cabinet pieces many of which we are currently offering on 1stdibs. Acquired in the UK Art Market.
