Princess Alice Authentic Strand of Hair, 19th Century

About the Item

Princess Alice nursed her father Prince Albert as he lay on his deathbed. She retained an interest in medicine for the rest of her life. Soon after her marriage to the German prince Louis IV in 1862, Germany became embroiled in the Austro-Prussian War (1866). Alice devoted much of her attention to working in field hospitals. Alice is an excellent example of how interconnected the royal families of Europe are. Her daughter Alexandra Feodorovna married Nicholas II in 1894, becoming the last Tsarina of the Russian Empire. This authentic half inch strand of Princess Alice’s hair is an intriguing curio linking several grand European royal families. It comes presented on an 8 x 5.75 inch display card, perfect for framing. Free global shipping. "Certificate of Authenticity" and our Lifetime Moneyback Guarantee of Authenticity included.

  • King Edward VII Authentic Strand of Hair, 19th Century / 20th Century
    Located in Jersey, GB
Edward VII’s coronation took place in 1901, following the death of his mother Queen Victoria. He was 59 at the time and his reign was short, ending with his death in 1910. This brief period is known as the Edwardian era. This was a time when society underwent a dramatic change, with women and workers agitating for greater self-determination. It was also the end of the great European golden age known as the Belle Époque. The First World War (1914-1918) would drag the continent screaming into the 20th century. This authentic half inch strand of hair is from the head of King Edward VII (it was likely taken when he was the Prince of Wales). A marvellous curio that fits beautifully into any collection of royal memorabilia...
