Sparton Blue Mirror Radio 1936 Art Deco Walter Dorwin Teague Model 557

About

This Sparton Mirrored Radio is a considered to be one of the best examples of Art Deco Streamline Style. Striking Art Deco cobalt blue mirror radio model 557 designed by Walter Dorwin Teague for the Sparks-Worthington Company from Jackson, Michigan in 1936. The radio, known as the “sled” or “3-knob” is considered to be one of the best examples of Deco Streamline style. The radio features cobalt blue mirrors on the front, top and left side, with contrasting ebony lacquer finish and 5 chromed bands or “speed lines”. The asymmetric, geometric shapes and accent designs are distinctively Art Deco in appearance. Radio is in restored great condition and is free of chips, or cracks to the mirrors. Wood “sled” base has ebony lacquer crystalline finish. Newly chromed bands in perfect condition. This is a prime example of a highly sought after radio that is matched by no other manufacturer depicting the Art Deco flair, presence and interpretation. The electronics have been hardwires with an 1/8th inch adapter. This will allow you to use iPod, iPhone, Smartphones, Bluetooth or Record player. There is nothing that sounds better than hearing the warm bight analogue sound of a tube amplifier. You can just ask any guitarist since these kind of amps are still being made and used. You have the best of digital and analogue combined together.
