1940s Annin Flagpole on Iron Stand with Eagle Finial Nautical Yacht Flag Anchor

About the Item

1940s Annin Nautical Yacht Flag with Eagle Finial on Cast Iron Tripod Stand A remarkable example of American maritime history, this 1930-40s Annin & Co. nautical yacht flag and stand set embodies both patriotic spirit and timeless design. Both the flag and the cast iron base are original Annin & Co., New York productions, a name synonymous with quality flagmaking since the 19th century. The tripod stand, stamped on the bottom Annin & Co., New York, IX, is crafted of substantial gilt cast iron in a decorative 19th-century style, providing an elegant and sturdy foundation. The wood flagpole, accented with brass sleeves, supports a richly embroidered nautical flag featuring a bold anchor encircled by thirteen stars on a deep indigo field, a classic maritime motif symbolizing steadfastness and unity. Crowning the pole is a cast-metal eagle finial with wings majestically outspread, exhibiting an attractive natural patina. Golden tassel cords drape gracefully along the pole, enhancing the flag’s regal presentation. The flag itself bears the original Annin tag, which reads: “Defiance, Reg. Pat. Off. 100% Cotton, 2-Ply, Mothproof. The name Annin guarantees quality.” Dating to the 1930s–1940s, the flag shows light wear consistent with age and display, including mild discoloration, minor fraying, and a few small pinholes that only enhance its authentic vintage character. This exceptional ensemble would make a distinguished addition to any nautical, Americana, or patriotic collection, or serve as a commanding statement piece in a maritime interior or yacht club setting.
