Antique Early 1600s Gilt Gothic Tabernacle Door W. Lamb Resting on 7 Seals Bible

About the Item

Incredibly old, rare and meaningful, antique giltwood tabernacle door with lamb of god sculpture. This striking and all handcarved, symbolic tabernacle must have originally been part of a church or monastery tabernacle and it is a real work of (religious) art. Most Christians will recognize and know the deeper, symbolic meaning of this sculptural church relic and it has exactly the correct style, details and wear that one would expect from a piece this ancient. According to its former owner (who is no longer with us) this antique church relic was either Italian or Flemish. About three years ago we purchased a vast collection of very rare ecclesiastical antiques from a private collector. Many we have already sold via 1stdibs and we will again be offering a group of these rare antiques in the next two months or so. This ideal size for wall mounting, tabernacle door is in used condition (as one would expect from a piece this age) and it gives it an even more Medieval look and feel. The natural cracks, the few crude restaurations, the stunning gilding and its wear, the cool wrought iron lock and hinges and ofcourse the hand carved lamb of god in deep relief, they all add to the many stories this ancient church relic undoubtedly holds and it will make a great work of art AND talking piece on your wall. We feel that the dark cloud over this lamb sculpture makes this rare antique even more powerful. Mind you, there are two small holes in the back of this door and with a wire between them (when using 2 small hooks) this 400 year old church relic can easily and safely be hung on your wall. No matter where you decide to have this relic on display, it will never fail to impress and somehow people always immediately recognize its anciennity. If you like this early 1600s religious artefact as much as we do then you will love our price. Also, because perfect packing and worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days are complimentary.   Maximum height x width x depth: 21.1 x 15 x 3.1 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish and meaningful and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again).
