Fine patinated bronze Chrucifix by Jean Lambert-Rucki, 1888-1967
Circa 1930
The figure of Christ thoughtfully, expressively modelled with stylized Avant Garde elements. Elongated, powerful, fluid arm muscels, a geometric ribcage, square formal loin cloth, circular knees and pointed feet. Jean Lambert-Rucki is considered one of the pioneers on Modern Religious Art, exploring a modern religios aesthetic which was initially at odds with the traditional Church views on Religious Art.
Original carved wood cross, the bronze Christ figure is signed Lambert Rucki on the side of the loincloth, the back of the cross with original label ADALC-Paris, Made in France.
Excellent rich dark bown patina
