A wood sculpture wonderfully carved depiction of the Virgin Mary with Jesus Child gilded with gold leaf and polychrome painted, Spain, mid-18th century.
This finely hand carved wooden figure on a simple base from the same peace of wood, is the typical Spanish depiction of Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child in her arm. Beautifully polychrome hand painted, gilded and stewed, commonly used for Catholic Spanish sculptures.
In very good antique condition, gilded and polychrome paint well preserved - the devotional history of this wonderful sculpture would benefit from a professional clean.
