19th Century Italian Carved Louis XVI Style Giltwood Barometer

About the Item

Gorgeous late 19th century gilt wood barometer thermometer made in Italy in the Louis XVI or baroque taste. The large barometer features a large carved frame in a banjo form with a lyre motif. The barometer is centered by a hand-painted face inset with a German Lufft barometer having a beveled glass face. The piece is decorated with ribbon swag, flowers, and acanthus with a lovely robins egg tone paint and parcel gilt finishes. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
