Terrestrial Globe French 18th Century, Most Unusual Swinging Structure
This extremely rare terrestrial swinging globe is an exceptional find. Designed, created and built to be hanged to the ceiling in order to spin and play with it. Rare are the cases of pre-revolutionary French globes, and most of all the swinging ones. In excellent conditions and original patina, no losses or restorations, bronze ring and rivetts included. Highly artistically enriched, it shows the most updated cartography of the period at that year (please see North America and Australia – Nouvelle Hollande) . The ‘cartouche’ shows: GLOBE TERRESTRE D’APRES MR. RIZZI ZANNONI (publisher) A PARIS CHES Girard GEÓGRAPHE (geographer).
