Hobie Jeff Hakman 1965 duke meet replica big wave gun surfboard. Shaped by the legendary Richard "Dick" Brewer in 2005. This historic wooden surfboard is composed of a balsawood shape with 5 redwood stringers, 5-piece wood tail block, and sleek jet-black fin with white halo. This collectible surfboard has never been ridden. One of just 25 balsawood surfboards shaped by Dick Brewer to commemorate Jeff Hakman’s victory at the 1965 Duke Kahanamoku Competition. The contest was held at Sunset Beach on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Jeff Hakman was just 17 years old when he was crowned Champion of this iconic Hawaiian event. 11 years later, Hakman would go on to acquire the license to the Quicksilver surfing brand for the United States market. He became pivotal in helping the brand achieve market dominance, leading to quicksilver becoming the biggest global surfing brand the world has ever seen with sales revenues in the billions.
