Large Antique Solid Brass and Cast Iron Mechanical 'Fight' Style Bell

About the Item

This solid brass and cast metal mechanical bell has no maker's marks, but believed to have been made in the United States in circa 1900. The bell is modeled in the classic 'fight bell' style such that when the arm is pulled back, the striker pulls back and hits the brass bell's housing. The cast iron back plate shows a simple raised pattern and the mechanism is steel. The hammer is wood, which shows age appropriate wear. This bell may have been used on a boat or in another commercial application and is quite loud when rung.
