Iconic Art Nouveau Cigar Cutter in the Shape of Stork with Ahstray, circa 1900

About

Unsual but funny cigar cutter with metal ash tray. We are not quite sure, but we think that the cigar separator is made of several metals. The edges of the ashtray are bent, so it must be a soft metal like copper. The beak is made of a silver metal and the cutting surface is slightly rusty. The stork's body is massive and is also the heaviest part of this piece. The ashtray itself has white stains on the inside, which form an extraordinary patina. Design probably originates from Ignatius Taschner (1871–1913), who was a sculptor, medalist, graphic designer and illustrator. Height approximately 16cm Diameter of the ashtray approximately 6.3cm Total width (ashtray and raven) approximately 12cm.
