Victorian Period Unusual Sterling Silver-Mounted Cut Crystal Match Striker
About the Item
Victorian Period, unusual sterling silver-mounted cut crystal match striker, having a full sterling silver match cup/holder, Birmingham, England, year-hallmarked for 1895, John Grinsell and Sons - makers. Striking area is cut into the top area of the crystal just under the sterling silver mount. The rest of the crystal of the striker is uncut except for its underside which has an incised star pattern cut into it. This star pattern is visible through the clear part of the striker's crystal (see photos). Measures 2 inches high x 3 inches diameter (at widest point). Dark areas in photos are reflections. In very good antique condition.
