19th century articulated pull along dog toy A wonderful example of a late 19th Century articulated pull along dog, constructed from pine and metal hinged body with painted detail surface. Original fabric canvas ears still intact as is its full chain. Glass eyes and red wooden wheels give this rare toy a wonderful quirky and decorative look, when pulled along the dog wiggles from side to side, a real bit of fun. American Pottery Pig Bank, Circa 1880's

American pottery still bank in the shape of a pig, used for saving coins (usually pennies) to encourage children the importance of thrift. Pottery still banks are somewhat scarce since the typical way to remove coins was to smash the bank open, albeit, with this particular example, perhaps a knife was used for coin removal (note the wear to the coin slot---see images) or perhaps the additional wear is also from many coins having been deposited. The bank is in good all original condition , from an unknown potter (unmarked) circa 1880's, and probably a variant of #633 "Two Toned Pig" in Andy Moore's "The Penny Bank Book" written in 1984 when collecting pottery banks...

This is a high quality large Games Compendium, complete with many individual games in its original hardwood storage box with a hinged lid. All the pieces are well made and complete. The box is very well made of a jointed hardwood, possibly red walnut and is a high quality piece in its own right. The box has developed a lovely color and patination from use and wear. The exterior has a brass oval inset into its top, a brass twin lever lock and brass hinges. The interior is sectioned into different sub compartments by hardwood dividers. Many different games are included within the compendium, including; 55 piece 9 - spot dominoes Chess set - Very good high quality set, large pieces( Kings 8.7 cm high) and glass eyes to Knights, Draughts with 24 x turned hardwood pieces Backgammon with 30 x turned hardwood counters 2 sets of playing cards and two Bezique marker boards Hardwood turned dice shaker and various different dice tiddlywinks Pick up sticks...
