19th Century Four Panel Painted Leather Folding Screen with English Soldiers

About the Item

A fine four arched panel wooden folding screen with polychrome painted leather scenes of English soldiers on horseback from 1742-1832, on a green background, with associated date painted below each solder, and the verso painted with solid ebonized panels with a thin border accent. The screen is English in origin and dates to the 19th century in very good overall condition, with minor leather shrinkage, surface cracks, edge losses, craquelure, and other minor imperfections and wear commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: Approximately 76 in H x 84 in W x 1 in D, overall. Ref: 8
