'Guá' Modern and Organic Folding Screen in Brazilian Hardwood by Knót Artesanal

About the Item

Guá is a contemporary version of a traditional screen, the result of a collaboration between Knót Artesanal and Mexican artist Patricia Sada. The straight lines and natural wood tone of the mid-century modern feel of the frame contrast with the vibrant colour and organic form of the Guapuruvu leaf stem. Guá screen is handmade from the Brazilian hardwood Freijó and painted Guapuruvu leaf stems collected from the Atlantic Rainforest. Knót Artesanal is a minimalist furniture studio composed of Brazilian architect Renata Gutierrez and Scottish woodworker James Rowland. Specialising in handmade pieces created using traditional techniques and a modern design from their base in Paraty on the tropical 'Green Coast' of Brazil.

On the other hand, its play with optical illusion, rhythm and movement creates dialogue with contemporary Kinetic art. The screen partition...
