Antique Swedish Folk Art Pine Trunk with Wrought Iron from the Mid 19th Century
About the Item
Swedish folk art trunk from the mid 1800s. The trunk is made in northern Sweden and has old historic paint with initials and dating – 1875 – on the lid. The last letter of the initials is a D which indicates that the first owner was a woman and it’s possible this trunk was a wedding gift as it has both the initials and a date. Frame in solid pine enforced with hand-wrought iron hardware. Wood-bare interior which has never been painted. Original working lock and key. Good vintage condition with some smaller marks and traces of use.
