French Art Easel by Lefranc, Paris, 1900s

A marvelous antique French easel from the early 1900s. This item stands out for strong design, having clean lines and rounded edges. Sturdy construction of stained pine, it is a vertical easel and does not adjust to lean back. The top clamp adjusts with a knob and can be raised or lowered. The bottom support adjusts with a cremaillere bracket system. A metal plaque for the maker, Lefranc Paris, remains attached to the top clamp. Lefranc is a well-known purveyor of art supplies that was established in 1720. The easel is stationary, with metal capped feet on the underside instead of casters. The Stand can be unscrewed and detached for flat pack shipping and storage.
