Rare Enamel Tray by Guido Gambone

For Guido Gambone, the making of enamels was a natural foray, given the medium's obvious commonalities with ceramics. Still, he executed very few works in enamel; perhaps he was frustrated by the plastic limitations of metal as opposed to clay. This hand-beaten copper tray with abstract decoration is an excellent example of a Gambone detour. Stamped "GAMBONE ITALY" on the underside.
