Vintage Carl Zeiss Periscope.
A very stylish periscope made by Carl Zeiss and marked “RWDF 10 x 50, 12-133-3624, CARL ZEISS”. The periscope is mounted on an old wooden tripod. The whole apparatus is stripped of paint and polished, giving it a sculptural look. The periscope has a metal finish with brass fittings, an adjustable sun visor on top and comes with a green wooden transit box. The Carl Zeiss optics on this piece of ex-military hardware are crystal clear and can be fully adjusted to see objects in the sky or at ground level. There are built in mini spirit levels to help in the set up of the periscope and when in use there is a quick release lever allowing turning a full 360° in one swift move.
This type of equipment was extensively in use during the Cold War, including on the Berlin Wall.
Measurements are without tripod.
