About the Item
Created in JG Switzer's design workshop, this body pillow is named after the sheep adorning its face, the long-locked Wensleydale. Also, mostly because "Wensleydale" is just so darn fun to say. The Wensleydale felted adornment is from local, California sheep. In this case, JG Switzer’s very own shop’s sheep. Like wood or natural stone, each object has unique character and variation.
Starting with local batts of wool, the JG Switzer artisan team places each piece of colored fleece. Colored fleeces are treated like oil paints on a canvas, creating each one-of-a-kind creation. After multiple passes through the seven-ton needle loom, lovingly known as “Luna,” JG Switzer’s custom fabric is passed off to the in-house seamstress to create each pillow in the workshop. Every pillow is fitted with a custom insert to create the perfect pillow.
This Wensleydale body pillow is backed in raven black, 100% Merino wool from Australian Merino sheep. Each fabric is woven-to-spec by an 18th century, English mill with a royal warrant to Windsor Castle.
JG Switzer is an artisan textile and finished goods manufacturer devoted to the local workshop economy and all-natural fibers. We design, produce and market natural fiber, modern pieces and materials for the design and home goods industry. Much like wood or natural stone, each object is unique.
Dimension: 16 x 48". Dry clean only. Insert is custom fit and designed to keep its shape. Due to the natural nature of our products, each object has slight variation from the product shown.

JG SWITZER designs “Fine fibers for the well-dressed home.” Most of our pieces are designed & made at workshop in Northern California, USA where we also make our own fabric with an industrial needle loom for home goods and private commissions. We set out in 2018 to "blanket the world with beauty," and we strive daily to offer the very finest tailored blankets, furs and pillows found nowhere else in the world. Three all natural fiber collections to choose from. Custom, sew-on demand inquiries from the trade are welcome. HERITAGE SHEEP COLLECTION is wool milled in California, USA from small flock sheep on the Livestock Conservancy’s “at risk” list. Wool is nature’s finest, 100% natural renewable and sustainable fiber. LEGENDS COLLECTION, milled at one of the oldest, continuously operating mills in England (1780s), the mill carries a Royal Warrant for supplying interior fabrics to Windsor Castle and has provided their woollen cloth for costumes to productions such as Harry Potter and Titanic. The mill bespoke dye pieces of the Legends collection to make them exclusive to us. Our signature finish is always a 4" silk charmeuse border. UNFORBIDDEN FUR COLLECTION. Finally, fur you can feel good about. “Upcycled” Toscana real fur fabric is tanned formaldehyde-free, from carefully sourced, left-over Italian glove factory cuttings, re-purposed and sewn into luxurious blankets and throws.
