Cotton Velvet represents the conclusion of an extensive search by the Maharam Design Studio for the finest quality available. Woven in Italy of mercerized cotton, Cotton Velvet is distinguished by its dense pile and luminous glow. This quality improves with age, blooming and crushing over time, adding to the surface richness and depth of color.
Founded in 1902, Maharam offers a comprehensive collection of textiles for commercial and residential interiors. Maharam pillows feature celebrated textile designs from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, from re-editions of the work of Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard and Verner Panton to recent collaborations with Hella Jongerius, Paul Smith, Scholten & Baijings, and Studio Job.
Based in New York, the Maharam Design Studio balances an appreciation of history with innovative interdisciplinary exploration. Marked by design distinction and ingenuity, the studio’s singular, cohesive vision is augmented by close partnerships with longstanding collaborators. Renowned for its graphic sensibility, independent approach to color, and willingness to engineer products from the ground up, the Maharam Design Studio is represented in the permanent collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Stedelijk Museum, among others.
