Rare Italian vintage Valentino scarf cushion pillow with Irish linen black white A custom made one-of-a-kind luxury cushion (pillow) created from a stunning, rare vintage Valentino fashion scarf in a very unique, elegant and striking design. A Mid-Century Modern design with a black and white striped, geometric pattern and dramatic but subtle curved circles in a flavour of Art Deco style. Placed in the bottom right hand corner is the ‘valentino garavani’ (no capitals) signature in a luscious delicate gold. Note the foulard style faint pattern woven repeatedly within the fabric, especially notable when caught by the light, giving lovely extra detail up close. Italian designer Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani, best known as Valentino, is known for his fine haute couture creations. Valentino couture is the ultimate extravagance, one example being the white gown worn by Jackie Kennedy at her wedding to Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis. Their signature look being pretty bows and intricate lace patterning infused with femininity. This is a rare find as Valentino scarves today are mainly found in chiffon and featuring their signature lace print. On a quality cotton with a sumptuous feel. Personally hand-picked by Katie at an antiques market on her travels. Backed in new 100% pure Irish linen, the aristocrat of textiles and certified by the Irish Linen Guild, lined in a layer of natural bamboo cloth, filled with new plush duck feather insert and a concealed dress zip. The traditional oatmeal color linen is a combination of the unbleached raw colour of the natural flax plant on the weft intertwined with pristine white on the warp, resulting in a beautiful melange effect. Would look great with Mid-Century Modern wooden furniture and framed drawings. A contemporary cushion (pillow) constructed with antique elements by using fragments of precious fabric. Handcrafted in Ireland By designer-maker Katie Larmour This cushion is a one-of-a-kind and part of a sustainability project. It has been created from a repurposed, up-cycled, recycled fabric, used with the intentions on promoting a more eco-friendly environment. We both celebrate and cherish the past and take care with rare and precious vintage and antique materials. (this cushion frame can also be reversed back into a scarf and presented in a frame on request) Note condition: Although no structural damage (rips, plucks tears, snags, frays, restoration etc) there are slight markings, signs of wear in its previous life, these are barely noticeable, that may not even be picked up by the camera during photography, but mentioned for clarity. We feel they show the item’s age and history, add character and do not take away from the overall piece.
