Vintage French Boussac Versailles Fabric with Irish Linen Cushion Pillow Blue

About the Item

Vintage French Boussac Versailles fabric with Irish linen cushion pillow blue Custom made luxury cushions created with French vintage ‘Petit Trianon' Boussac fabric from their 'Romanex' collection in pale blue with a beautiful pattern of pretty ribbons, roses, alternating bands between bunches of luscious flowers and butterflies. This particular design was Boussac's take on the interior at the Chateau of Versailles. This delightful gem was bought from an antique fabric dealer in Marche aux Puces de Saint-Ouen on the outskirts on Paris and it dates from the 1940s. In a thick weighty cotton in it's perfect never used condition. Purchased from a Paris market and from an used roll and so the colours are still vivid. We also have this design in the pale pink colourway. It was named so after Marie Antoinette's bedroom in the Petit Trianon Palace at Versailles, where the prestigious design house created textiles for the Chateaux when it was being restored. It is the essence of French textile design. Boussac was one of the most prominent and prestigious textile manufacturers in France. Once the richest man in Europe, Marcel Boussac (1889-1980) was a French entrepreneur who founded the French textile manufacturing empire Boussac. Legendary for owning one of the most successful thoroughbred race horse breeding farms in European history. His horses dominated French racing from the 1930s through to the 1960s and was responsible for the most influential mares imported to the USA and UK. During the war more than six hundred of them were seized and transported out of the country for breeding at the German National Stud. He is also best known for his ownership of the Maison Dior and contributed greatly to Paris becoming the capital of fashion again after the war - in 1946 he financed Christian Dior's new Paris fashion house that became one of the most famous clothing and perfume marques in history. Boussac revolutionised fabric creating his own brand of patterns for the younger clientele, many with vegetable motifs and a variety of colours which won over the general public. Today Boussac fabric has been taken over by the renowned ‘Pierre Frey’ name. With it’s charming character, it would look especially fabulous in a tradition, country or rustic style interior. Backed in new 100% pure Irish linen, the aristocrat of textiles and certified by the Irish Linen Guild, lined in a layer of natural bamboo wadding, filled with new plush duck feather insert and a concealed zip. The traditional oatmeal color linen is a combination of the unbleached raw colour of the natural flax plant on the weft intertwined with pristine white on the warp, resulting in a beautiful mottled effect. A contemporary cushion (pillow) constructed with antique elements by using fragments of precious fabric. Handcrafted in Ireland By designer-maker Katie Larmour Ireland Studio Availability: We have fabric for x1 in the pink and enough fabric to make 5 in the blue. This listed x1 cushion in the the picture in the blue is already made up and filled, more quantity would need a lead time of a week to be created.
