Italian 40's Glass and Brass Umbrella Stand
What makes this umbrella stand very elegant is its lightness. Four glass slabs hold together 3 brass circles on top and 2 brass plates at the bottom where the umbrellas tips can rest. The middle circle was originally made to hold a planter that is visible in one of the pictures but it is also nice just as a decorative motif.
It is an example of the Italian workmanship of glass of the 40's and 50's that found its highest example in the works of Pietro Chiesa and Fontana Arte.
