About the Item

Cowhide rugs in Khaki, sustainably sourced and hand-dyed. Approximate dimensions: 230-260 x 230-260cm Six different colors: Salmon pink, burgundy, khaki, light grey, mid grey and black Please note that color hues may vary from batch to batch (as they are hand dyed and an identical result cannot be guaranteed). Also the exact overall dimensions, as well as the shape are naturally unique to each cowhide. Care and Cleaning Instructions When unfolding your rug, you may have a few creases and wrinkles; these will even out naturally over a few days with natural air and sunshine. Or you can place a towel over the hairy side of your cowhide and use your steam iron to remove the creases. Cowhide rugs don't tend to move much on carpet or wooden floors, the textured underside of the hide works to keep your rug in place. However Velcro dots or non-slip rug underlay can be used to minimise rug movement or wrinkling. Please note that dyed cowhides contain colourant - to prevent possible DYE transfer we recommend you use a non-slip rug underlay cut to size under your dyed cowhide rug. We recommend that you avoid putting your new cowhide in direct sunlight, as this may cause possible fading over time. Intense heat from under floor heating or placing the rug within a 50cm radius proximity to a heating source (fireplace, radiator etc.) is not recommend for your cowhide rug, this can over time cause it to dry out. Rotate or move it to a different location from time to time so that it wears evenly. To keep your cowhide rug fresh, give it a shake outside to remove dust and dirt from the pile or vacuum it normally (in the direction of the hair). It can be wiped clean with a damp cloth - [not wet] and potentially with mild soap like shampoo (avoid use Alkaline or any other kind of strong chemical washing liquids that contain Sodium Hydroxide). Do not soak the hide or get it too wet. Please do not wash in a washing machine or dry clean. Spills and stains should be removed immediately - soak up spills with a kitchen paper towel or cloth. Remove any solid matter with the blunt edge of a knife, then wipe with a damp (not wet) cloth using a mild soapy solution. Cleaning with a damp cloth using a solution of 5% white vinegar and 95% water, will remove any unpleasant odours! Before using any kind of cleaning material please first try it out on a little corner.
