Antique Caucasian Kuba Shirvan Rug, Late 19th Century

About the Item

A good Shirvan rug from the Kuba region with an unusual large scale lattice design of stylised floral medallions. This style can be traced back to the large floral carpets found in this region during the 17th and 18th centuries. The rug is framed by a wonderful large border of archaic design, note the birds heads and stars. A wonderful and dramatic rug. The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile. The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display. Suitable for normal domestic use.
