About the Item

A bold circular medallion pattern decorates this fine wool rug. Constructed in central Asia, Khotan in the 1880s. The central design has been woven on a cream background and features a symmetrical design woven with red, blue and brown accents that make up the decorative design. This has then been framed by a blue repeat pattern border. This piece is a Khotan Rug, Khotan was an ancient kingdom located on the Silk Road. Known for their combination of Chinese details with Western designs to create vivid pieces. The raw materials used are of the finest quality, with only the best hand-spun wool and cotton which have been dyed with organic dyeing techniques and delicately woven on looms to create this elegant piece.
