Woven entirely from undyed wool, this piece presents a clear arrangement of lengthwise stripes in dark brown, charcoal, and cream, extending the full length of the rug. Design and Color The field consists of evenly spaced stripes in alternating light and dark tones. Deep brown and near-charcoal bands contrast with soft cream and ivory, creating a bold but balanced composition. The undyed wool produces subtle tonal variation within each stripe, with slight shifts in color that add depth and texture to the graphic design. The wool is undyed, instead reflecting the natural range of the fleece. Construction and Materials Handwoven entirely of hand-spun wool, this kilim features a dense, robust weave with a firm hand. The weaver used an interlocking dovetail weaving technique, creating clean joins between color fields that strength the rug. The ends are finished with substantial, tightly braided fringe, securely bound and integral to the structure.
