Framed Antique Chinese Peking Dragon Design Purple Silk Rug, 19th Century
About the Item
This is an antique silk Peking circular rug woven in China during the 19th century and measures 60 x 60CM in size. This is an extremely special rug with a highly unique purple background color and the classical dragon motif in the center. Its border is made up of cloud motifs that use a blue outline color to create the design. This is a highly collectible piece of Chinese history because of it being woven in silk, its unique color combination, and the dragon motif. This example has retained most of its soft full silky pile with only a few areas of wear that are consistent with its age. It has been professionally mounted on a backing and is ready to be used and displayed on a wall or as a table mat.
